I listen, act, and transform
My name is Yesenia Segovia. A mother, wife, sister, daughter cousin, aunt, amiga and an LCSW living in San Diego. Since a very young age, I have had the motivation and the inclination for helping others. From being supports to friends, and always being the "one" my friends would come to even their parents, and family. Not realizing the depth of my listening ear to those around me, the profound connections I developed and interest of seeing those going through hard times to see them thrive.
Growing up in South Central Los Angeles provided me with many experiences to learn how to listen and speak up. Although not an easy journey, it prepared me for my calling. Without mental health resources in my community, I saw the impact to my peers. My compassion always pulled me to help those going through difficult times, whether that meant listening, helping or advocating.
Through the years, those skills have strengthened and increased through my schooling and working in non-profits. In those non-profits, I saw them again, my friends, their parents, and family, in different ways, going through the same difficulties, just like in my childhood and adolescents. Now as a LCSW, I can do more than listen, still important, but I have gained knowledge of how to navigate the difficulties with helpful therapeutic approaches. I have seen success with so many of my clients.
If you are interested in starting therapy, whether its your first time or you've been in therapy before. I am here to help. It is my passion to help others to reach their goal to feel better about themselves and to make life sweeter to live. If you are wrestling with the difficulties of anxiety impacting your life, depression, relationship issues where you are repeating the same negative patterns or struggling with setting boundaries, with stress, generational trauma, managing life transitions, or you are not sure where to start; I can help you.
